The Raven: Yachts Go Futuristic

The Raven: Yachts Go Futuristic

By Dan Gould on August 13, 2008

Architects often reference boat design as an inspiration. Due to the challenges faced by boat makers, a well made ship is truly an accomplishment. First off, a ship needs to be tough enough to stand up to the punishing conditions of the sea. Second, the big challenge is to fit all the working components of the boat, and living quarters into a compact hull. If the whole thing manages to look good too – you’ve got a winner.

One such example is the Raven yacht, designed by Mael Oberkampf. Looking more like a sports car (or space ship), the Raven sports sleek minimalist lines that echo modern architecture. Great work, and an innovative push into the future for seafaring vessels.
