New York City’s 911 emergency hot line and 311 quality of life complaint line will now directly accept uploads of photos and videos from mobile devices. It was announced today that concerned citizens will be able to tag media along with phone calls reporting crimes or public problems such as noise complaints. The city government hopes this added feature will help to solve crimes and other issues more efficiently. The 911 and 311 systems also accept media uploads via computer and text message.

The public should only send their “crime” video and photos to the press or post on the web, that’s the fastest way to get the NYPD to get moving on anything…

It will be interesting to see how the authorities will react to armies of citizens photographing and videoing them.
I’m looking forward to everyone have networked cameras embedded in their eyes from birth. Nowhere to hide then.
