Foodzie: Online Gourmet Marketplace

By Dan Gould on September 2, 2008

Foodzie is a new website that’s described as an “Etsy for artisanal food”. The curated online marketplace sells primarily gourmet and organic foods from small producers. Right now, the site is in beta, but has a sneak preview of three different companies, selling fantastic looking chocolates, popcorn and tea.

Detailed information on the food’s background is presented on the site, such as ingredient lists and allergen information. The revenue split is 80/20, with only 20% going to Foodzie. Normally, retailers can charge fees as high as 50%.
