Tap’d NY is a bottled water company who’s motto is “Truth In Hydration”. As an alternative to hyped-up H2O from the other side of the planet, Tap’d has bottled filtered New York City tap water to sell locally. Finding the wasteful practice of importing water from distant lands ludicrous (according to the Tap’d blog, Fiji water travels over 8,000 miles to get to NYC), the company has created a product that helps raise awareness and provides a more sustainable bottled water option.

This is sort of hilarious, but strangely logical. Sometime back in the eighties, Consumer Reports ran a bottled taste test using NYC tap water as the control — and it won! Of course, it’s easy to criticize bottled water if you live in NYC where the tap water is pretty delicious.
Here in SoCal it’s an entirely different story, sadly.
