Musicians have done it, and now magazines are jumping on board. Good Magazine has started a pay what you like program for subscriptions. You can pay as little as $1, but $20 will get you into a year’s worth of free Good parties. All profits from subscriptions go to one of 12 charities of your choice. Pretty great all around.

Sounds like a good idea. I wonder how it works out in the long run? Will people only pay the minimum or will they actually pay for what they think it is worth? My hunch is that it is a good gimmick to get noticed but after that it dies.
