Site Visit: Colette x Gap Pop Up Boutique

This being fashion week in NYC, Bryant Park is once again pack with temporary tents hosting the fashion shows. But elsewhere around the city retailers are taking advantage of the event to open temporary stores. This weekend Gap partnered with Paris-based Colette to set up a temporary shop containing hard-to-find products from around the world. The store will stay open for one month. The collaboration is the first time Colette has established a store in the US.

Replicating Colette’s Paris store concept, Colette x Gap will feature a combination of unique and sought-after Colette products, otherwise unavailable in New York City, along with items created especially for Colette x Gap. These exclusive products – ranging from stationary to exclusive pieces of art – will be available to customers at a wide range of price points.

The window graphics and interior design are inspired by a construction site. This theme was chosen as a nod to the current renovation work on the Paris store. Sarah, Colette’s buyer and creative director summed up the experience of working with Gap and being in New York:

It’s a wonderful experience to collaborate with Gap for a temporary shop in uptown New York City, a cult environment for retail. We’ll do our best to delight visitors. It’s a challenge for us, happening simultaneously as we re-invent our unique Paris address.
