TCHO Chocolates

Influx Insights points us to a brand worth watching: TCHO, a San Francisco-based chocolate company that sets itself apart by bringing a new level of openness (and open obsessiveness) to their industry. From their website:

TCHO is a new kind of chocolate company for a new generation of chocolate enthusiasts.

TCHO is where technology meets chocolate; where Silicon Valley start-up meets San Francisco food culture.

TCHO is obsessively good dark chocolate.

TCHO is direct, transparent connection between the farmers and the consumers, from the pod to the palate, from high concept to sensual experience.

TCHO is an innovative method for you to discover the chocolate you like best.

TCHO’s social mission is the next step beyond Fair Trade – helping farmers by transferring knowledge of how to grow and ferment better beans so they can escape commodity production to become premium producers.

The chocolates come in minimal packaging that’ll appeal to the waste-conscious, and are released in “beta” form – meaning they are works-in-progress, in a sense; customers are encouraged to give feedback on them (and TCHO will actually take note). TCHO’s concoctions are based in science, they say, and go beyond your run-of-the-mill Hershey flavors (e.g. “Nutty” and “Fruity”). Though they haven’t hit supermarket shelves quite yet, you can give TCHO a taste test by purchasing through their website. Check out the video below for more:
