Archinect and InfraNet Lab are announcing a new annual publication today called [bracket]. The project aims to be a publishing platform for ideas charting the complex overlap of real world architecture to the evolving online social world. The each issue will be based around a specific theme.
An important feature of [bracket] is where the content comes from. The editorial team have employed an open call system for submissions. They hope to grow [bracket] into a platform for new voices and talent.
The first issue will be released in the fall of 2009 and will be based around the theme of farming. Fish farms, server farms, energy farms, urban farms, information farms, wikipedia, facebook; our contemporary daily life owes so much to the resourceful, convenient intelligence of collectivity. How is it shaping or how could it shape our cities and buildings? How are these developments shaping our natural environment? And what are new potentials for these typologies? These are the issues and questions that designers and writers are asked to respond to. More information about signing up to contribute or receiving [bracket] is available at the website.
