Vehicle to Grid Power Goes Live in Boulder

Vehicle to Grid Power Goes Live in Boulder

By Dan Gould on October 27, 2008

Xcel Energy in Colorado has initiated phase one of their program to make vehicle to grid power a reality. The interesting idea behind the project is to let the power grid take in power from electric vehicles during peak times of the day. Cars that would usually sit idle will become alternative sources of energy for Xcel, and sources of income for their owners. An automated system will ensure that enough juice is left for drivers to get home once they leave the charging station.
