Amazon Offers Simpler, Eco-Friendler Packaging

We were happy to learn of Amazon’s new “Frustration-Free Packaging” initiative, which gives customers the option of receiving (select) toys and electronics sans their usual wasteful, hard-to-open packaging. Amazon’s Frustration-Free Packages are simple, recyclable cardboard boxes that do away with most of the unnecessary filler (plastic casings, bindings, stupid wire ties) that manufacturers customarily use. Amazon says these products are just as well-protected as when they’re packaged in their regular boxes, and they often can be shipped as is.

Amazon’s selection of Frustration-Free Packaged products is currently pretty limited, but their intention is to eventually offer the option for everything in their catalog. And to help gather some momentum behind the movement, Amazon collected a few user-submitted pictures to demonstrate exactly how frustrating packaging can be.
