It’s amazing how much logo design can influence our feelings and perceptions about a company. This is perhaps best illustrated by a redesign. By comparing old vs new, you can sense a shift. It’s like those movies where a fine-yet-plain-looking girl gets a makeover, becomes a supermodel clone, and the hot quarterback finally notices her.
WeFunction.com recently posted 50 stunning examples of a great redesign–from small tweaks to major facelifts. These included AT&T adding dimension to their “deathstar,” BP morphing their shield into a green sunburst/floral graphic, and msnbc freshing up their font. Check them all out here.
If these now have you craving a change of your own, check out “50 Kick-Ass Logos for Inspiration” from FuelYourCreativity. We especially love the K12Reader, Cream and Core Cider logos, though they are all amazing.
For a more exhaustive guide, pre-order LOGO Design, Vol. 2 from Taschen (coming next May), a follow up to the Julius Wiedemann-edited original that includes case studies and tons of visual ideas.

So the overall rule is; make is shiny, make it more 3D?
Fun site. I’m sad Mindshare have changed though. I always loved their ‘creepy cult’ like vibe…
