In regards to more basic life functions and information overload The Omnivore's Dilemna by Michael Pollan provides a great insight to the overabundance of information present in our decision on what to eat. The industrial food chain has made it very complicated. (I just started reading the book and it's really good). I would have to say that both authors are correct, there is both too little information and not enough framework to place it in.
