Los Angeles: City of Bike Co-ops

It seems Los Angeles is making progress in chipping away at it’s car-centric ways. StreetFilms has produced a great documentary that shows off LA’s vibrant bike co-op scene. Shops like The Bicycle Kitchen, Bike Oven and The Bikerowave let members use their open workshops to fix and build bikes and also learn from more experienced technicians. These organizations rely heavily on donated supplies and have fair pricing structures that make them accessible to most everyone. In a sprawling city like LA, a variety of similar shops are able to thrive, each acting as a neighborhood bicycle community resource.Check out the video below for the rest of the story.
