Core 77 reports on some interesting statistics which illustrate the growing popularity of netbooks. These mini computers with stripped down features are becoming big sellers – 5.6 million of them were sold last quarter and the Washington Post reports that netbooks are now outselling the iPhone. It seems there are two major factors boosting sales on netbooks – the low price, and the fact that computer users are offloading more tasks to web based software and data storage.
