Nils Holger Moormann’s Simple Luxury Hostel

By Dan Gould on December 18, 2008

Designer Nils Holger Moormann has upped the ante in the hostel game with his beautiful Berge Guesthouse. The communal living space is a far cry from the spartan and sometimes unpleasant accommodations usually associated with the hostel scene. The Guesthouse was created out of a converted 1671 bakery building in Aschau, near the Austro-German border, and features 13 sleeping units plus the “backpacker suite”. Moorman’s style is evident throughout the warm interior, which is designed to foster interaction and socialization amongst guests.
