We’ve notices two useful technologies which monitor ambient conditions and auto-correct themselves based on maintaining comfortable levels – like the way a thermostat regulates a room’s temperature.
Apple has filed a patent for a system that would auto-tune sound volumes on devices based on the level of sound in a room. So, for instance – if you were in a quiet movie theater, the system would recognize this and lower the ringer on your phone. Conversely, if you were walking down a crowded city street, it would ramp up the volume all the way.
In a similar vein, Panasonic has released a ceiling lamp that measures the brightness of the area below, and adjusts the lamps brightness automatically. They claim this self adjusting lamp will not only be convenient, but cut down average power consumption by 60 percent.
