Boxee Adds ABC to Lineup

Boxee Adds ABC to Lineup

By Scott Lachut on January 23, 2009

Following on the heels of our Boxee review from earlier this week, we see that the social TV service has added ABC.com to its offerings, a boon to viewers clamoring for access to popular shows like LOST, Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy. Add this to Boxee’s mix that already includes CBS.com and a Hulu application (NBC/Fox) and that’s coverage from all four major networks, a strong alternative to file sharing, despite the incidence of ads that these streams contain.

The download is currently available for Mac OSX users and will be followed closely by a version for Apple TV. Those operating on Windows and Ubuntu platforms, however, will be out of luck for this round of updates, though no details as to why have been provided at this time. And while Boxee may still be in its earlier stages, with its growing lineup, it is making a compelling argument to woo potential users away from their Cable TVs and downloading tendencies. Could the promise of exclusive content be next?
