Cottage in a Day

Minimalist living and modular design are two ideas we’ve been following for a while now – both reflecting progress toward more sustainable, conscious lifestyles. Cottage in a Day is a marriage of these approaches, offering small, build-it-yourself modular cottages that can be constructed in – yep you guessed it – a day. The company worked with architect Michael Fitzhugh to design the temp-to-permanent abodes that are more than a few steps up from your typical trailer home.

The site explains the benefit of CiaD:

Cottage in a Day is moveable because the structure is built in a facility and transported to the site in its almost finished form. Although the foundation piers are to be considered permanent when the CiaD is set, at any future point it could be moved again.

Cottage in a Day is modular because it is based on a simple 14′ by 14′ square that can be supplemented with additional modules to achieve a variety of floor plans and uses.
