Racked alerts us to news that UK fashion retailer TopShop was denied a license to open a liquor bar in its forthcoming New York Store. Residents complained that the new store on Broadway didn’t have the zoning requirements to run a bar (with DJ booth). Oh well, the kids will still have to buy their clothes on a Friday night before wearing them out that night.

This sounds like a ‘for the time being’ conversation until the boundary gets pushed a little harder. Shopping under the influence, it’s only a matter of time before this concept gets the go-ahead.
