PSFK Signage Reincarnated

PSFK Signage Reincarnated

By Christine Huang on January 5, 2009

We’re inspired by PSFK friend Courtney Sexton’s repurposing of some old PSFK collateral, transforming a large foamcore sign we used for PSFK Conference San Francisco into a perfectly fitting instrument case. Courtney, aka Flickr user evilsigntist, explains:

Problem: I was planning on traveling to France with my band for NYE, but I didn’t have a travel-worthy case for my horn. I couldn’t find one I liked for a price I could afford.

Solution: I made my own case for under $50.

The body of the case is made from donated reused signs left over from a PSFK conference that the company I work, Priority Graphics, sponsored. This material is 100% recycled, and 100% repulpable. The rest is nuts, bolts, duct tape, glue, and vinyl upholstery. The wheels, handles, clasps, and strap were removed from suitcases /briefcases that I got a GoodWill for almost nothing.

Ahhh. It’s great to see something we’ve created put to good use again and working with people and companies that come up with such simple, innovative solutions. Kudos, Courtney!
