All manner of silliness aside, the noteworthy nature of The Temporary School begs the question: When did we stop the practice of educating one another without profit motive, and why can we not return to this model in an even less-structured manner than that of an anarchist collective? Suppose you or I5 were to setup shop in the heart of Harvard Square with a sign reading &#8216;Learn to blog. Right here. For Free&#8217;. Would there be no takers? Scarcely, I think. How is this altogether different from the manner of expertise flaunted6 on Twitter? Is it possible to create greater long-term personal value by teaching/sharing for free - and being ascribed expertise, even on a local level - than is created in some dimly lit center for adult education?
