The i2i seat is part of a collaborative seating system designed by IDEO for Steelcase. To be launched in the spring of 2009, the bucket-like seating was designed specifically to foster collaboration and was based on three key insights:
1. Chairs should promote movement and be comfortable for long periods of time
2. Adjustments should be automatic and intuitive
3. Chairs should support multiple postures
The product page also tells us that the i2i chair earned Cradle to CradleCM Silver Product Certification from MBDC. i2i is also undergoing a complete Lifecycle Assessment evaluating the chair’s lifelong impact on the environment – from materials extraction through production, shipping, use, and end of life.
