
We noticed this rather smart looking McDonald’s in London’s Holborn last week. It has obviously had the new design-driven make over – complete with Arne Jacobson knock off chairs in the window.

We noticed this rather smart looking McDonald’s in London’s Holborn last week. It has obviously had the new design-driven make over – complete with Arne Jacobson knock off chairs in the window.

These are popping up all over London now. Even further from the centre in places like Camberwell and Dalston. They’re quite nice, for McDonald’s, and less unobtrusive/shouty at street level than the old red and yellow ones (which remain at tourist hotspots like Leicester Square and Oxford Street).

I agree with Spencer — I passed the one on Holborn the other day and almost didn’t realise it was still McDonald’s. Interesting re-brand strategy to make fast-food appear more trendy in light of the bad health publicity against it. Burger King is attempting a similar approach through online viral campaigning.

fancy that… looks almost inviting and healthy. Bigger chairs for bigger people to take longer to eat?
