The chief designer at Braun for over thirty years, Dieter Rams once dubbed his designs “Weniger, aber besser” or “Less, but better.”

Increasingly disillusioned by the world around him during the 1980s, the German industrial designer decided to test the quality of his designs by creating 10 Design Commandments. Some of our favorites:

1. Good design must be innovative.

Good Design is aesthetic.

Good design makes a product useful.

Good design is unobtrusive.
