Our friends at Anomaly have spent a lot of time in the last few months helping Umbro with the launch of the new England football jersey plus a line extension named Tailored By England. The shirt was first worn last weekend in a match between England and Slovakia (England won 4-0).

This video gives some background to the new line. If you’re in London, you can check out the merchandise at a pop-up store in East London; and in New York you can see it in Jeff Staple’s Reed Space Annex.

Anomaly’s founding partner Carl Johnson is speaking at PSFK Conference NYC this Thursday about their IP work. Tickets here.

  1. An anthem jacket? Seriously?

I know football has long passed the grass roots stage, but a freakin’ anthem jacket? Why not give the people buying it a free sticker with ‘IDIOT’ to stick on their forehead. A blatant attempt at squeezing even more money out of fans and a marketing exec trying to justify his wages!

  2. I agree that the choice of name for that jacket may not have been ideal. It probably made total sense given the pedigree of the designer; that’s not to say that anyone else will understand it.

But it is a nice piece :)
