New Volkswagen Polo: Small Size, High-End Design

By Dave Pinter on March 6, 2009

Volkswagen looks to be on a roll this year. A few weeks ago we picked them as our standout brand from the Detroit Auto Show. This past week in Geneva, the automaker revealed the new Polo. The car has some stunning design details, particularly the headlights and tail lights.  The exterior surface got a lot of added attention but underneath well, quite a lot got taken away. Engineers were able to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle 7.5 percent over the previous model. The weight savings translates to a dramatic increase in fuel economy. This pared with some new engine options like the 1.2 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder allows the car to go 60 miles on about a gallon of gas.

The car will go on sale starting in June but no announcement has been made whether the car will be available in the US.
