We’re excited to have Richard Fine, founder of Help Remedies, join us at PSFK Conference New York on April 2. Along with Jay Parkinson & Sean Khozin (Hello Health) and moderator Colin Nagy (PSFK/Attention), Richard will be discussing how inspiring innovations can be made – even in an industry resistant to change.
First, who are you and what do you do?
I am one of two founding partners at Help Remedies. Help is a collection of simple solutions to simple health problems. My friend Nathan Frank and I started Help because we think there is something wrong with the way we take care of people who are unwell in America. We wanted to bring some clarity and kindness to healthcare. I am charged with the strategy of Help Remedies and making sure that the medicine part of what we do is correct. Day-to-day, I make sure that the trains run on time.
You’ll be sharing your ideas on our “Building Healthy Brands With Heart” panel. In one paragraph, can you explain what themes and ideas you hope to touch upon during the discussion?
I want to talk about how medicine may be doing its job as medicine, but how it’s not doing its job as a brand. We have gotten the fundamentals of medicine correct. Basic medicine is a miracle and it is cheap and easy-to-access. However we are cluttering this simple idea with terrible brands, terrible ideas, and ridiculous unnecessary over-complicated drugs, devices and systems that are expensive and only marginally functional. We should return to the basics and cut out the excess and remember to treat medicine as what it is meant to be- the way that people get and stay better.
