The pocketability factor should be compared to SLR camera's for which this is much smaller. Regarding the leather thing. I think this is particular to cameras, because they have a pre-digital analogue (film cameras) that have long used leather (or leather like surfaces) particularly on the high end (Leica's being the example invoked by the design above). I'm not sure that consumer electronics that don't have a pre-electronic analogue translate well with leather (those leather laptops never really took off). These will develop their own 'iconic forms' that may or may not use leather, but I'm banking on not.
