Ceri Levy follows up on his 1994 documentary Starshaped that covered the rise of Blur with a movie of Damon Albarn’s cartoon band Gorillaz. Levy followed the band over seven years watching them record, play and engage with their cartoon alter-egos. Babelgum is playing the film on its site for a month and if you have the spare hour and a half this evening it’s worth a watch to get an insight into one of the more imaginative and adventurous bands of the 00s.

  1. I went into the site but it says video can’t be found. :(

  2. Yay! i can’t wait for the Gorillaz movie! if there isn’t, it’d be a shame. like Jamie stated, “They’ll be the same characters but a bit older and the story told in a different way.” and i’ve thought of something too: from what i’ve heard, i’m assuming that these characters will be treated like real people actors, including poking fun at the pop/celebrity world? just wondering. i’ve also heard that fans’ ideas for the movie would be a possible massive help for the film, but that’s what i’ve heard as well. i thought of some ideas i thought would be cool, like: 1. there’s this apocolyptic disaster for the last primates on earth. 2. or a different story about Murdoc(actor) and the world around him. 3. or Murdoc(actor) must save his kind(2D, Noodle, Russel actors) from a massive world military and goes on this crazy ass journey high jacking vehicles in order to save the day. 4. or, Jamie can decide. and yes, they all sound stupid but hey, it could happen. i’m sure it’s going to be a weird traditionally drawn film. thanks, Jamie and Damon.
