An artist couple from San Francisco has transformed a pink Ford Econoline 350 into a mobile studio apartment. Furnished almost entirely by free items from Craigslist, the scrappy mobile home has served as a base of operations as Crockett Bodelson and Sandra Wang traversed the west coast selling their artwork. Stuffed inside the truck are an upright piano, a stove, a table with chairs, a large workshop area, some mattresses and a bungee cord secured library. The biodiesel truck also runs off of solar power, and is an interesting example of using reclaimed materials to create something new.

It is easier said than done to strap a piano into a truck like that. I know, because I took one across the country with my band. That little bungee cord isn’t likely to DO all that much. Pianos are really top heavy and like to tip over. Looking at all that loose stuff, i can’t imagine them driving this around safely.
How much driving did this thing do? Everything is loose in there.

Biodiesel is bad! Bad, bad, bad! Driving a car that needs less fuel than any other car is good. Driving on plants that are produced in monocultures is bad. Save Mexico!

Hey! That’s not a van.. it’s a box truck. And I agree about the comment with the driving.. they couldn’t have done much.
I’ve converted a ford econoline into a “mobile studio” and will be traveling around the US for the next year and I have EVERYTHING on bungee, hanging and otherwise, and stuff still flies around all over the place when I drive down dirt roads.
With solar and EVDO internet I don’t see there being a reason to not be traveling!
