Video: Keith Loutit Envisioning Life in Miniature

By Scott Lachut on April 16, 2009

Sydney-based photographer Ken Loutit puts an extraordinary spin on the rather mundane events in life utilizing a variety of techniques and angles to capture the everyday in miniature. The process, called tilt-shift, refers to the movement of the camera – small or medium format – relative to the image being photographed, resulting in a bird’s eye perspective that re-imagines the commonplace. Loutit takes a series of stills and stitches them together to create short films that invite the viewer to take a second look at the world around us.

The video below depicts the parade route during this year’s Mardi Gras in Sydney where an estimated 300,000 people showed up to take part in the festivities. Visit his Vimeo page to catch a full glimpse of his unique point of view.
