The Windup Flashlight is a prototype for a mechanical flashlight with an LED. The idea: mechanical energy is created and stored by winding it up. As it unwinds, the generator slowly releases energy, powering the LED.

These already exist, they just aren’t as nice and fancy. Instead of turning the flashlight itself, you turn a rotary handle on the light to generate power for the LEDs.
