Inhabitat points us to the Early Rider – a bike designed by Andy Loveland who set out to design a stabilizer-free bike that he would admire and his son would love. Loveland says his company Early Rider combines British innovation with West Coast style and world leading manufacturing. The brand also sells fashion to wear with their ‘Classic’ bike.

My son has this bike and I’d like to say a couple of things about it:
1. We’ve always had a tonne of kind words about the bike in the park. It looks ace.
2. The front fork broke and the chap at Early Rider couldn’t send us a new one fast enough.
3. My son has now progressed to a bike with pedals and I believe he’s the youngest person in his peer group to learn to ride properly. I would say it’s down to the Early rider.
Great product and I notice the new model has a slightly improved design. I might sound like a wanky middle-class parent but it’s good to see these kind of products on the market.

Our son also has one of these and they arrived in Australia not long ago (www.earlyrider.com.au)
One thing we noticed is they are very stable and comfortable with much higher quality wheels than similar German models.
However, we now lament not discovering Early Rider….well: EARLIER! Our son is 4 and quite confident at riding now. But our daughter is 8 and has endured training wheels on a very heavy kids bike…she’s still not confident enough to ride without the training wheels. Arrgh, hopefully she will be OK soon.
