
The Economist’s Intelligence Unit have just released their livability rating for over 140 cities areound thr world. The rating quantifies the challenges that face a city-dweller’s lifestyle in those cities and the newspaper’s review found that Australian and Canadian cities tended to come out top.

Vancouver does a great job of melding modern urban lifestyles with accessible oceanfront public space and great access to the coast mountains. Kayaking on the waterfront can be accompanied by wild surprises as well:

so glad i grew up in toronto. it’s so clean, safe, and super modern. people don’t flee the downtown core at night. great neighborhoods. and probably one of the most multi-cultural cities in the world. you can get a “wrong number”, in a different language every day!

That’s your personal taste. Probably because where you come from is nowhere near top of the list.
They make the list based on a lot of criteria that actually mean something. I’d rather be nice and warm and toasty than in some sweaty armpit in the South of the US etc.
