Pop-Up Wedding Chapels In NYC

Pop-Up Wedding Chapels In NYC

By Laura Feinstein on June 11, 2009

Hot on the heels of 303 GRAND‘s pop-up wedding chapel event this June (the first of it’s kind), the Grand Opening storefront on 139 Norfolk street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side is also offering the betrothed a chance to have their dream event- “Vegas Style”. Those curious about the endeavor can visit Grand Opening’s website at kickstarter.com , an interactive page where the owners of the space not just give you a tour, but also let viewers know just what they would get when they signup for a wedding at Grand Opening.

Some of the exciting things promised include live Internet streaming to friends and family worldwide , services performed by an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church, seating for up to 20 people, in house staff photographer, custom backdrops, decor, and accessories,  street side post-wedding photo op and for those not looking for a real commitment:  Mock weddings and a  “Rent a bride or groom ” service. The wedding chapel is looking to run  Friday July 10th  until Sunday July 26th. In addition to being a pop-up wedding chapel, Grand Opening is also a revolving storefront and pop-up retail space.

Meanwhile, 303 GRAND has already started their wedding series in conjunction with Martha Stewart Weddings and The Wedding Library, proving that there seems to be a genuine need in this time of recession for a cheap and fun alternative to large, costly services. 303 GRAND will have wedding themed events throughout the month including a wedding photography exhibit curated by The Wedding Library, “The Look”: A showcase & retail shop featuring bridal & bridesmaid dresses, handmade accessories, lingerie, hair & makeup trials, and free manicures, and  special Martha Stewart Weddings events for those intending to marry.

For the Brooklyn Pop- Up wedding chapel be  sure to check back frequently to their site at brooklynchapel.com

And for those looking for a special day in Manhattan, you can reach  Grand Opening and see their schedule  at gopublicprojects.com
