For many people, this years economic woes have caused would-be vacationers to seek out alternative retreats. However, for those in New York City, this Sunday the Israeli Ministry of Tourism in cooperation with the Tel Aviv Yafo Centennial Administration and the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be bringing Israel to New York by turning the area of Central Park near the Naumberg Bandshell into an artificial Tel Aviv beachfront, complete with a 1,300 square foot sand section featuring chairs and parasols- allowing visitors to soak up a faux-authentic Mediterranean tan.

In addition to live music and entertainment, visitors will be able to get information about Tel Aviv’s hot-spots, tourism attractions and night life and El Al, the leading carrier to Israel, will be offering special deals for reservations made at Central Park.

While it’s still unclear what else will be done to turn Central Park into a Middle Eastern Oasis, you can get more details on the event at  the event’s website

  1. While Israelis and Jews celebrate life both in Central Park and in Israel, the poor Palestinians have no choice but to continue their plight toward Statehood by preparing their civilian targeting rocket offensive, and using children-laced human shields for defense. Interstingly, the liberal leftists don’t cry about the human rights issues or lack of morality in this case, but choose to hold Jews to a higher standard then the rest of humanity. Either way, while the Palestinians so tactfully decide that refusing to recognize Israel as the Jewish homeland is in their best interest, I’ll be on the beach in Central Park, enjoying life. And I won’t be alone.

  3. I would also point to all of the Palestinians who were killed by their fellow arabs when jordan kicked them out. The ONLY country willing to take them in to begin with was Israel.

  4. I would like to point out that this is not a political forum, rather a place to share positive ideas and innovations to make the world a better place. Whatever your views happen to be on Israel, I think we can all agree that a fake Tel Aviv beach in Central Park is a marvel of engineering, and we should be viewing this post in that context.

  5. It may not be a political forum, but if you want to make the world a better place, it certainly would not entail ethnic cleansing, extreme racism, and the destruction of people’s lives based strictly on their religion or ethnicity. This exhibit reminds me of how Germans were enjoying their lives also while right in their own backyards, there were concentration camps where people were suffering and dying. The same exact thing takes place in Israel where people enjoy their lives in a supremacist state while others are second-class citizens, and in the backyard, crimes against humanity are being committed day-by-day, hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute.

Some of the comments here are just a tiny example of how little people know. Israel was partitioned out of Palestine, and Israel took in no one as the Palestinians are the indigenous people of the land. It was approximately 750,000 Palestinians who were forced to flee in 1948 when Israel became a state.

Better to see an exhibit of how Palestinians must live under the foot of their oppressors and ethnic cleansers, and another exhibit of all Palestinian refugees and those in exile yearning to return to their beloved land, which is their undisputable inalienable right. For those who left this earth wihout their dream of returning being realized, may they return in spirit.

  6. If you want to make the world a better place, it’s definitely not through spreading tired lies and false propaganda, like Marlene N does.

Your comparison of Israel to the Nazis shows just how vicious an anti-Semite you are.

Is it not ethnic cleansing, when Palestinians demand that every single Jew be removed from the West Bank? The 800,000 Jews that became refugees from Arab and Muslim countries after 1948 (Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Morocco, Yemen, etc.) – were they not ethnically cleansed by those Arab dictatorships? Also, you should know that within Israel, all Israeli citizens (whether Arab, Jewish, Christian, Druze, Baha’i, Bedouin, etc.) have equal rights and are treated equally before the law. Now go over to Gaza and see what kinds of rights Jews have there.
