Controlling Home Heating Via the Internet

British Gas, the UK’s largest supplier of electricity and gas, is starting a pilot program allowing its customers to control heating using an Internet based tool created by English start-up AlertMe. Heating takes up nearly 50% of the total energy consumption in the UK. Controlling the gas and electricity use via mobile phones and the  Internet, would foster both energy conservation and lowering utility bills.
