Core77’s limited-edition bicycle, the Dutch Master, combines a number of our favorite trends as of late – two-wheeled transportation, local craftsmanship and provenance – into a stunning piece of rideable design that pays homage to New York City.
They explain the thinking behind the project:
The Dutch Master is based on the beloved Worksman cruiser frame–a workhorse foundation used throughout the New York delivery community, and manufactured in Queens, New York for over 110 years. Core77 customized the frame, fitting it out with a carefully curated set of components, each with its own story.
The bike was hand-built by KT Higgins, a Brooklyn-based ex-bike messenger (infamous for her crash in the movie Pedal), and proprietor of Bushwick Bike Shop, her one-year-old bikeshop in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn.
To help celebrate the launch, the bike’s designers and builders will be on hand at the Apple Store in SoHo on Saturday, July 11th at 3pm, to explain the intricacies of the construction process sharing video, stills and stories. Following the event, the Dutch Master will be on display for one week in the lobby of NYC’s Ace Hotel.

Lovely looking bike but “delivery community” is a hideous idea. Take your identity politics and marketing-based attitudinizing and stick them. Delivery boys. Delivery men. Delivery people. Delivery people. But none would have called regarded themselves as members of a “delivery community”. That started when middle-class kids starting doing this work for cultural reasons. To real people it’s a job, not a lifestyle. Eat a dick, frankly, and Piers and crew, I know this is comment is a bit rude but I’d really appreciate your leaving it up. Cheers.
