There’s something about the playful elasticity of rubber that makes our lives easier and more fun. Pete Oyler has taken this flexible material and put it to a very practical use, designing “stretch shelves,” which are made of cast rubber and manufactured aluminum. Upon installation, they mold like large rubber bands with enough support to hold books and CD’s. Oyler is a recent M.F.A. graduate in Furniture Design from the Rhode Island School of Design.
