We wrote recently about a secret underground climbing wall in Brooklyn and thought that this invention is the perfect solution for indoor climbing (hidden or not). The ClimbStation is a moving climbing wall that can takes a recent idea and put it into a sleek design package.
The device enables users to select a difficulty setting and then mount the wall without assistance. Sensors initiate the cycling forward of the wall once the user is comfortably making progress and will vary the speed based on the user’s proficiency and placement on the wall. In addition to live adjustments, the wall can lean backwards to give expert climbers a run for their money and can easily be upgraded with new grips. The wall is produced in Finland and retails for almost 30,000 Euros, obviously aiming for the high-end fitness center market. Check out the video below to see the ClimbStation in action:

absolute funk… sassy marketing too… what about in offices for staff wanting to climb the ladder really fast?? Or people in stressful office environments could hit their head against it to release tension!

I always hated these things, like a treadmill but worse. The fun of bouldering or any “indoor” climbing sport is 50% physical, 50% mental (figuring how to get your body in the right position). Who would want a repetitive climbing treadmill?
