SHOWHOW is Copenhagen Design Week’s sustainability and innovation showcase presenting new solutions for a well designed planet. Meeting the brief of saving energy, minimizing waste and working with materials already in abundance, cardboard seems to be the choice du jour.
A favorite of ours is the ecochair, a bed and stool made of foldable cardboard, making its accordion structure a fair competitor to the futon. The exhibition architecture was designed by WEM3 and built of stacked boxes of recycled cardboard.
Promoting the cradle to cradle spirit, the building blocs, which can be transformed into a chair, are handed out to visitors for free at the last day of opening, this Sunday. Printed instructions for how to turn the box into a piece of Danish furniture are found on the inside.
