Three artists – sculptor Jock Mooney, filmmaker Steven Eastwood and painter Mia Taylor – have just completed a month-long show/residency at The Gallery at Jerwood Space in London entitled Laboratory.

The concept was to turn the gallery into a workspace that exposed the process of each artist, as well as exploring the inner workings and decisions of curation, design and promotion leading up to an art exhibition.

All three artists relocated to the Jerwood Space to work for 4 weeks. A writer and photographer documented the process, and Kathleen Soriano, Director of Exhibitions from the Royal Academy of Arts had frequent conversations and interviews with the artists to track the different roads, dead ends and epiphanies they had during the entire experience.

All the materials were placed into a blog, which was then created into a print catalogue that was updated daily ( both were designed by UK ad agency The Partners).

Visitors to the free exhibit had the opportunity to watch the artists in the midst of creation- a far more interactive experience than a passively observing a painting, sculpture or film.

The end result provides a warts-and-all look at a month of multi-faceted creative work from beginning to end, documented in  different mediums. You can look back at the entire project on the Laboratory blog.
