Mast Brothers: [PSFK Snapshot Brooklyn]
Rick and Michael Mast combine old-school sensibility with their artisanal “bean to bar” chocolate operation in Williamsburg – the only one in New York City. Part of a bigger movement that reveres small-batch, locally produced eats, the brothers hand-make each chocolate bar with carefully sourced beans that they clean, sort and roast themselves. Unique flavors include Dried Cranberry, Salt & Pepper and Sea Salt & Almond, which are then hand-wrapped in Italian wrapping paper. Obtaining a bar used to involve some hunting, but the brothers revamped an airy old garage space to create a new rustic retail store that sells the entire line, including rotating, experimental varieties you won’t find anywhere else.
