While at the VCU Brand Center, Mollie Partesotti and Benjamin Alter created a thought-provoking animation which explains how work spaces need to be re-thought to ensure employee happiness. Showing how dehumanizing workspaces, such as cubicles, are at odds with both well-being and the way we work now, the duo artfully explores the domain of the modern workplace.
They explain:
The goal of Cubes Are Evil was to identify and examine the sea change greatly affecting the world of work. We believe that employees, companies, and the economy need to utilize current catalysts, such as technological innovation and behavioral changes, in order to proactively steer the change and progress that needs to be taken to work models.

Awesome…I love that…I’m inspired to use the subject in my term paper for PADM 602 Public Administration Theory…(I had no idea on how to connect to a fitting topic, and this connects me to something relevant, strategic, and sure to keep me going for 20+ pages!)

If students at the Brandcenter learn one thing during their 60 weeks, it’s that cubes truly are evil. Hopefully more clients and agencies will continue to see the higher value in our work, stemming from our newer work model.

Your take on the varied workforce is quite interesting and is not unknown by architects, interior designers and realted fields… what I do find thought provoking is a better definition of this concept and how it can be shaped. I am curious to see further research define and support your model along with suggested recommendations.
