Face Removal Services: Beat Mapping the Surface of the Earth

Multisensory organization Face Removal Services have created a digital music instrument that uses the surface of the planet as its control surface

By tracking the GPS coordinates of their V8 Ford LTD Crown Victoria as it drives across predetermined circular geographic areas, its position and movement triggers a musical sample associated with the area. As they drive closer to the center of the area the sample becomes louder. By moving into new areas new sounds are triggered and added to the mix.
