Alex Carver and Christopher North of Northern Timbers Construction recently built an amazingly compact living space as part of the Human=Landscape exhibit. The solar-powered microhouse is only 100 square feet, but still contains a kitchen and bathroom with just enough space leftover for a chair and bed. While not practical for most peoples living situations, the Microhouse is an elegant example of compact housing design.
It’s currently on display at City Hall Park in Burlington, Vermont.

These microhomes can be practical–we are planning one for 2 people, one wheelchair, and a cat and a dog in under 250 square feet. This can be done!
