Retro Cameras from the Streets of Tokyo

By Nicko Margolies on September 18, 2009

Old cameras are becoming a stylish accessory, and in Japan the youth are eagerly showing off their retro gems.  The blog Tokyo Camera Style collects images of owners presenting their prized possessions on subway cars and the sidewalk.  The cameras range from simple single-lens reflex cameras like the Black Paint FM2 to the rarely used medium format cameras like the Pentax 6×7 series.

New camera portraits are added daily, and the producer of the site is an unabashed lover of funky cameras.  The site houses a great collection of “personal taste and private sensibilities.”  In an ironic twist, all images on the blog are taken with a digital camera.
