For years, the popular method to freshen the appearance of soft drink cans was to clad them in eye-catching graphics. Since every beverage maker uses the same shape of can, designer Dzmirty Samal thought there was room for improvement in the physical design of beverage cans. His new concept for a Classic Coke can does away with the typical round cylinder shape in favor of a more faceted look.
Rather than use the traditional cold forming manufacturing process all cans undergo today, Samal’s concept makes use of a forming process called impact extrusion in which aluminum is pressed at a high velocity into a mold. Besides having a unique look, the faceted sides could make the can easier to grip and would prevent the can from rolling when placed on its side.

Wonder if the resemblance of the faceted shapes to the outline of a coffin was intentional

Why not just make it rectangular?

Why would the world need this? If you have trouble holding on to a standard soda can then you should only be drinking out of a trough

pretty fab if u ask me…

Easier to grip…But is it also easier to crush with your head?

The world needs this because it is the coolest thing ever, that’s why. Quit complaining about how shitty it is because it is a waste, and udi you are probably a fat ass pig who drinks out of a trough yourself. Ass lover.

How does it feel to fail Cokefiend? Maybe you should spend more time learning how to read and less time being a dick, considering Infinitrium made the comment about the trough and not Udi…

Rectangular cans would hurt to hold for many consumers. But this one might as well, particularly for young kids. I predict the can stays cylindrical.

Good eye Kyle. That’s what I saw first too.

A waste of efforts, it looks awful, and would undeniably be uncomfortable to hold. Design fail.

CREO QUE NO ES EL MEJOR DISEÑO PUES LOS LOGOS APARENTAN UN ATAUD, PARECE UN MENSAJE SUBLIMINAL

Gotta be the goofiest thing I’ve seen in quite awhile.

I can see big time jams in all vending machines

it looks very cool, but it would highly reduce the stability of the cans. there is a fair bit of pressure released from the drink after carbonation. Cans are pressurized, and the most stable shape to support it would be spherical, however, since the sphere isn’t available in this case, a cylinder is the most stable, anything with a round shape. all of the edges in this can create structural weak points that will pretty much give out during transportation of the cans. those transport trucks give a pretty rough ride.

Considering how bad Coke is for you then the black coffin shaped logo that arises out of the redesign seems highly appropriate

Pressure! A can is pressurized. With the sharpness of the can, it will be easier to puncture. Thus, if you drop it…Bang?
