Yu Jordy Fu’s Recycled Paper Chandelier

By Laura Feinstein on September 1, 2009

There must be something lurking in the shadows in London, because recently some of it’s youngest and freshest talents have been turning the stalwart darkness into light through more and more creative means. At this year’s 100% Design Event, designer Yu Jordy Fu created ‘cloud walk’, a nine-meter-long white recycled paper chandelier inspired by ancient Chinese paper cutting techniques. Fu has been using this medium as a way to create haunting 3D images which play on light and “dreamlink landscapes”.

‘I don’t see the chandelier as an object but a space. my passion is to create sensational spaces for people; ‘cloud walk’ celebrates the spatial relationship between people and the city of London – the existing, proposed and imaginary London.’
