Open Gawker Site Allows Anyone To Publish Anything

By Kyle Studstill on October 22, 2009

Embracing the chaos of their new ‘open forums,’ Gawker now features a tip-sharing box that gives commenters the ability to post directly to the site using a hashtag-based system. Prompting visitors with frequently used tags, posts can be submitted into popular pages (#stalker has already collected 21 celebrity sightings at time of writing) or users can generate their own.

In the words of Editor-In-Chief Gabriel Snyder, “we’re throwing open the site to anyone who wants to publish anything.”
